In the past several weeks it has become very apparent to me that there is something that each of us struggles with on a daily basis. In small and large quantities we are faced with this one thing that challenges us daily. It is a constant in our world. It is change. Change is around us all the time. Basically, we make assumptions on the way things are supposed to be or are supposed to work out, we count on these things to work out the way we ‘think’ they should. Something may change and the scenario that we assumed in our mind has all of a sudden changed into something else that we now have to ‘think’ about accepting. Few…this can be a difficult and aggravating process if we are constantly trying to control what happens. Then we try to come up with other ways to make things work out the way we ‘think’ they should so that we can be happy the way we ‘think’ we can be happy if the things we want to happen work out the way we want them to work out. Got that? That is the way a lot of us go around in our heads working out life and making sure life works out the way we want it to. Seems to me that this can take a lot of energy, a lot of work that can be exhausting. So what do we do about this? Hmmm…it can be fairly simple if we ALLOW it to be. I invite you to read on and open your intuitive imagination up to what you are about to read…I invite you to open your hearts and FEEL another possibility that does not involve thinking and attempting to control. It involves announcing to the universe what you would like to have happen, what you feel in your heart brings to your life happiness and then letting go of the outcomes… It involves embracing CHANGE.
Change encompasses our very being. It constantly is asking us to dance. It challenges us and invites us to embrace the world. Change wants us to accept and love each other exactly where we are in this moment. It speaks to us wherever we are and with whatever we are doing and tells us that all is right and good in the world. Change wants us to understand that “It’s All Good” and to “Embrace the Chaos” because everything will always work itself out in the future.
Change is much like water. When you are in a body of water, let’s say a river or the ocean, it is very often difficult to resist the directions that water wants to take you. Many times we have to paddle very hard, or swim very confidently in order to break the pattern of where the waves may be trying to take you. This can all be very tiring after awhile and we often find ourselves needing a place to rest if we do not want to go where the water wants to take us. Water is a life giving element that we cannot live without. It is a force that we learn to work with every day. Water cannot be made. It cannot be grown, shaped, or formed just as it is. It must be accepted. Our job is to embrace the water and use it to help us out in so many conventional ways. We have learned how to put it in tubes and contain it is large bodies so that it flows directly in to our homes to be used to feed, clean, nurture, and embrace our lives. Then we see that water is untamable and comes on its own with a powerful force that can knock down villages, destroy cities, homes, places we grew up. Sometimes we have no control and we must learn to accept.
This is the same for change, wherever you are in life, whatever it is that you may be doing; stop resisting. I encourage you to imagine yourself loving where you are, accepting, and going with the flow. Allow the waters of change to help you to learn to ride the waves and trust that they will take you to extraordinary places. For this to happen, you must open your heart. Open your heart to love and with love you cannot fail. With love, the waters will flow easier and change will come easily. Accept the flow of change and miracles begin to blossom all around you. Your heart will enlighten every situation in your life. It will allow you to see with new eyes, new light, and a newness that is so enlightened that the darkness has no option but to fade away. I can tell you this because I have seen decades of darkness in my life and the only way I was ever able to see light again was through acceptance and riding the waves of change. I encourage you to ride the waves, get on your surfboard, and see yourself coasting on through. You may have to jump off from time to time, you may crash, and you may find yourself falling many, many times, but the nice thing about riding the waves of change is that every time you fall there is always a place to catch you. Water is all around you and what better place to fall than into a pool of welcoming water. There is nothing that will hurt you; it’s like landing on a soft mattress.
This is what happens when you trust and go with faith that you will be carried exactly where you need to be. The water catches you, it embraces every part of your body, and when you learn to trust it allows you to come to the surface and float. You are carried on top of the water instead of sinking to the bottom out of fear and the need to control. When we feel that we must control, we tread water so that we don’t sink for fear of dying, we attempt to swim to the shore or find something to grasp onto to hold us up, we use all of our energy out of fear that the worst will happen. Eventually, we can not work so hard to keep ourselves alive. Eventually, we become so tired that we have to take a rest. When there is nothing around that we can see to hold onto and when there is nothing around us to keep us from drowning, what do we do? Sometimes we panic...and sometimes we remember that all we have to do is allow ourselves to float, to trust, and allow a greater force to take over and carry us wherever we need to go. This is when we must allow faith to carry us, we must allow the waves of grace to carry us to the shore, and allow us to find a place to ground our feet in the sand, rise up and walk out upon the shore. We will always be carried to safety, we will always make it to the shores, we will always be taken exactly where we are meant to go, all we have to do is open and allow, put resistance aside, trust, and watch as the waves carry us through. Every storm will pass, every mountain was once carved out by the sea, and everything on this earth depends on the one element that keeps us alive. Embrace the changing waters and you will bring in everlasting light into your life.
Yes, it can be that simple.
